News Release
ARID Technologies, Inc. today announced that they have earned California Air Resources
Board (CARB) approval for their patented PERMEATOR vapor containment system. The PERMEATOR
uses a selectively permeable membrane to separate hydrocarbon vapors from air and thereby
significantly reduces gasoline storage tank evaporative emissions. The certification
test was conducted within the rigorous framework of continuous data collection and
monitoring by CARB staff.
In response to the news, Ted Tiberi, President of ARID, said, ''We are excited
to be granted Executive Order G-70-209. The PERMEATOR has set a new standard for
allowing gasoline refueling sites to approach zero emissions, both in terms of air
pollution and groundwater contamination. The CARB process has reconfirmed not only
our efficiency but our capacity for large stations as well. In addition, the
maintenance-free and automatic operation of the PERMEATOR validates our design
philosophy of using only robust, reliable and quality components. Moreover, savvy
petroleum marketers have already realized the PERMEATOR's dual benefit of reducing
harmful environmental emissions while at the same time yielding direct financial
benefits via gasoline fuel savings.''
The certification test was conducted at a retail refueling site located in Grass
Valley, California. The site manager, Mr. Descoe Chentnik commented, ''PERMEATOR has
been generating fuel savings of approximately 1,000 gallons per month. The unit has
operated maintenance free for over three years.''
Steve Matus, who was ARID's liaison with CARB personnel, stated, "Although it
was a long and arduous path for certification, we are very thankful to have had the
opportunity to work with such a professional staff. Without the knowledge and expertise
of George Lew, Pat Bennett and Paul Marzilli, it would have been much more difficult
to navigate through the administrative process of certification. We had confidence
in our product and we knew through diligence and patience the certification would be
granted.''

About CARB:
California's Legislature established the Air Resources Board (ARB) in 1967 to attain
and maintain healthy air quality and to conduct research into the causes of and solutions
to air pollution. Since its formation, the ARB has worked with the public, the business
sector, and local governments to protect the public's health, the economy and the state's
ecological resources through the most cost-effective reduction of air pollution.
The Governing Board:
The Air Resources Board's eleven members are appointed by the Governor. Five are
experts in fields such as medicine, chemistry, physics, meteorology, engineering,
business and law. Five others are elected officials who represent regional air
pollution control agencies - one each from Los Angeles region, San Francisco Bay
area, San Diego, and the San Joaquin Valley, and one represents the other districts.
The Chairman is the only full-time member.
The Staff
Under the direction of the executive officer, a dedicated staff of scientists,
engineers, and other professionals conducts the daily work of the ARB. With headquarters
in Sacramento, the ARB also operates a motor vehicle testing and analysis laboratory
in El Monte.
